A proper close sets the salon up for a smooth opening the next morning. We don't want to leave a messy salon for the morning shift. This template gives whoever closes a complete sequence to follow so nothing gets missed and the opener walks in to a salon that is ready to go.
Use it at the end of every working day.
Confirm every dog has left before you start cleaning. It sounds obvious but I've seen it happen.
Restock tonight, not tomorrow morning. Running out of shampoo mid-groom because it was not restocked the night before is an avoidable problem. Do it as part of close.
Leave notes for the opener. A behaviour flag, a late-starting groomer, a kennel out of service — the person opening tomorrow needs to know. A visible note at the front desk takes two minutes to write and saves a much longer conversation in the morning.
