Registering a dog is the first step in building an on-going relationship with the owner, ensuring we care for their dog time-and-time again. The registration process helps identify:
Good communication with the owner about their beloved dog is an essential part of the customer service we provide.
Use it for every new client when they first come into the salon.
Ask the behaviour questions directly. Owners will tell you if you ask. A more specific question such as "Has he ever snapped during grooming?" gets a better response than "Is he well-behaved?".
Specifics beat summaries. "Dislikes left back paw being handled" is useful. "A bit funny about paws" is not. Push for detail, especially on preferences and sensitivities.
Read it back before you finish. Confirming the key details at the end of registration catches errors before they become problems.
